COQUITLAM, B.C. — The mother of three children who were killed by their father in Merritt 11 years ago has died.

Darcie Clarke was the mother of Max, Kaitlyn and Corden Schoenborn. The news came via a tweet from family spokesperson Dave Teixeira, who says Clarke died Thursday evening. Teixeira did not disclose any circumstances of Clarke’s death, and said there would be no further comment.

The three children died in April, 2008, killed by their father Allan Schoenborn. He was later found guilty but not criminally responsible for their deaths in B.C. Supreme Court.

Since his trial, Allan Schoenborn has lived in the Forensic Psychiatric Hospital in Coquitlam.

He has repeatedly appealed to the B.C. Review Board for greater freedoms. Clarke advocated for victim’s rights, and told the Review Board “she live[d] in constant worry for her safety.”
