KAMLOOPS — Kamloops-born Solaine Sasakmoose has signed with the TRU Wolfpack and will join the women’s soccer team for the upcoming 2019 season in August.

Sasakamoose, who is playing for Coquitlam Metro Ford in the BC Soccer Premier League, said she wanted to study and play at TRU.

“I felt at home and comfortable when I came for the TRU tour,” she said. “It’s a great school with good support and a good team environment.”

New WolfPack women’s soccer head coach Mark Pennington likes Sasakamoose’s versatility.

“She is a player I have followed closely for a number of years and feel she has all the tools to be a successful player at the USPORTS level,” said Pennington, who is working to rebuild a women’s team that went 3-9-2 last season and missed the playoffs for the second straight year. “Solaine is a versatile player that can play in a number of positions. Her dead ball striking ability could be a real asset to the team. I am looking forward to working with her here at TRU.”

Her uncle, Fred Sasakamoose, was the first Ingenous player in the NHL, playing with the Chicago Blackhawks for a short time in the 1950s.
