KAMLOOPS — A search of the river last night by police and fire crews has failed to turn up any sign of a possible person jumping off the Overlanders Bridge.

In a news release, Staff Sergeant Michel Grondin says police got a report of a person jumping over the side of the bridge just before 10:00 PM. Tuesday night.

Police responded by blocking off the bridge to traffic and a rescue boat was put into the river. But after extensive searching, nothing was found.

The suspected jumper was described as a male, about 6 feet tall, two or three days worth of facial hair, wearing dark coloured pants, and a bright blue hoodie. The man was reported as being distraught, flailing his arms, and appeared impaired and agitated.

Police are hoping anyone who saw this person or oberved anything suspicious on the bridge prior to 10:00 PM last night to call them. It’s expected crews will be out looking again today.
