KAMLOOPS — One man is now in police custody after an alleged robbing spree last night.

Kamloops RCMP Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says around 11:20 p.m Tuesday (May 28), a DoubleTree Hotel staff member called police to report that a man had just robbed the hotel.

“The suspect had threatened to use a gun, but no weapon had been produced during the threat. The suspect fled the area on foot,” said Shelkie.

While heading to the hotel, an officer was flagged down by another victim who had been robbed, who described a man that matched the description of the hotel robber.

“We set up a perimeter. A man was found nearby matching the description of the suspects in both robberies. He was arrested without incident and no weapons was found on the suspect. The stolen items were found nearby,” said Shelkie.

The suspect is 39 years old, from Kamloops, and known to police.

The investigation has been forwarded on to the BC Prosecution Service, who will be determining charges.
