Vernon businesses evacuated after possible gas leak

VERNON, B.C. — Crews have closed off access to 34th Street and 31st Avenue in Vernon after an SUV hit the gas lines at the back of the Surplus Herby’s building.
Patients and staff were asked by police to leave the Vernon Family Practice and Hogarth’s Pharmacy on 34th Street just after 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday morning (May 22).
No word yet on the condition of the driver of the SUV that hit the gas line.
