Ashcroft emergency department to close temporarily for fifth time this year

ASHCROFT, B.C. — Yet another closure is expected for the Ashcroft emergency department.

Interior Health says the Ashcroft Hospital and Community Health Care Centre’s emergency department is facing limited staffing.

It will be closed from 8:00 p.m. Saturday (May 18) to 8:00 a.m. Sunday, and close again Sunday night at 8:00 p.m.

The emergency department will re-open at 6:00 p.m. on May 24.

This is the fifth time this year that a staffing shortage has forced the emergency department to close.

Residents can visit emergency departments at Royal Inland Hospital, Lillooet Hospital and Nicola Valley Hospital in the meantime.

The emergency department services in Ashcroft normally operate on weekends only from Friday at 6:00 p.m. to Monday at 8:00 a.m.
