KAMLOOPS — Phase One of construction on pedestrian upgrades for Todd Road began this week — a long awaited improvement project for residents of Barnhartvale.

The City of Kamloops chose BA Dawson Blacktop for the $4 million project, after receiving four proposals. Todd Road will be improved between Klahanie Drive and Ronde Lane.

The City listed the following upgrades:

  • constructing a raised concrete sidewalk (uphill side)
  • installing concrete curbing (downhill side)
  • maintaining intersection widths
  • installing a crosswalk on Todd Road near Ronde Lane
  • improving bus stops
  • repaving the road
  • installing additional lighting, where possible
  • constructing retaining walls, where required

In conjunction with the project, BA Dawson will repair the sanitary sewer, install a new water main and water services, replace a pressure-reducing valve station and install a piped drainage system.

The project is slated to finish up in September of 2019.
