Thieves take solar panels from roadside message boards near Cherry Creek
KAMLOOPS — Kamloops RCMP say thieves are doing everything in their power to sabotage public safety in the Cherry Creek area.
According to a news release from spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie, the culprits took solar panels that power four electronic message boards displaying traffic information. The message boards are set up along the Trans Canada Highway in the area of Greenstone Mountain, telling motorists about construction activities relating to bridge replacement.
Shelkie says the thefts have happened on two occasions — April 30 and May 9. The latter theft happened in broad daylight, between 7:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
