Kamloops Classics swimmers come home with 28 medals from Kelowna meet

KELOWNA, B.C. — The Kamloops Classic swimmers brought home quite the medal haul from this weekend’s meet in Kelowna.

Sienna Angove and Jack Cameron each won four gold medals in their respective events to lead the classics in the pool.

Angove won her events in the 200-metre freestyle, 200-metre backstroke, 200-metre individual medley, and the 400-metre individual medley.

Cameron won in each of his events in the 400-metre freestyle, 800-metre freestyle, 400-metre IM, and 200-metre IM.

Fourteen-year-old swimmer Jake Gysel won the 14 to 15 year old 50-metre breaststroke, while 12 year old Moira Minichiello captured gold in the 12 & under 200-metre fly.

In total, the Kamloops Classics took home 28 medals to finish fifth overall at the 2019 Kelowna May Invitational Swim Meet that features 365 swimmers from 13 clubs in B.C. and Alberta.
