In a video posted to Facebook, it appears multiple trucks parked in the yard were completely destroyed by the fire.

PREVIOUS:
No Kamloops Fire Rescue vehicles were visible, nor did it appear anyone was actively battling the blaze. CFJC Today reached out to Kamloops Fire Rescue for more information, but no one from KFR was available to comment this evening.

UPDATED:

Kamloops Fire and Rescue Platoon Captain Jim Gorman says KFR crews were not able to attend to the fire along Shuswap Road.

“The blaze out on Shuswap Road was actually outside our response district,” He explains, “We initially responded, and found out it was outside our district, so our units were stood down.”

While KFR was unable to act on the blaze, Gorman says Forestry and the RCMP responded as well.

He says when fires pop up outside their response district, other units are called in from nearby fire and rescue or forestry detachments that do have jurisdiction.

Raw Video from the fire

The fire was close to the Superior Propane facility on Shuswap Road, but RCMP on-scene had contacted company personnel and were monitoring the situation closely to ensure the fire didn’t spread.

We’ll have more information on this fire as it comes available.
