KAMLOOPS — It was May 9, 1984 that the Kamloops Junior Oilers won the first Western Hockey League championship for this city.

It was a dramatic finish — a night before the Regina Pats were less than 30 seconds away from winning the league championship when Dean Evason scored with 12 seconds left.

Ryan Stewart scored in overtime to win it, forcing game seven 35 years ago tonight.
