KAMLOOPS — The Denny’s restaurant in downtown Kamloops will be closed this afternoon for kitchen clean up, following a minor fire.
Kamloops Fire and Rescue Platoon Captain Chris Burnham says crews were called for a kitchen / grease fire earlier this afternoon (May 5), which ended up being a stovetop fire in the Denny’s restaurant along Columbia Street.
“When we arrived, we could see the flames through the windows of the building,” He says, “We knew there was a kitchen fire, but it ended up being a possible malfunction with the gas stove, and it was able to be put out with hand extinguishers.”
