KAMLOOPS — Sunday, the Tournament Capital Centre will host the 15th annual IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s, which aims to raise money for Alzheimer’s research, while celebrating those affected.

Walk Co-Chair Sheila Minten says last year, the Kamloops walk raised $90,000, making it one of the more significant events for the Alzheimer’s Society fundraising in B.C

“The Walk is important because it is the main fundraiser for the Alzheimer’s Society of B.C. The money raised funds programs and services, ” Minten explains, “The money raised in the Kamloops area stays within Kamloops, and the funds raised also go towards research and development.”

Co-Chair Jodi Hunt says as a large portion of the population ages, the need for Alzheimer’s and Dementia research grows.

“All the money raised goes to running the programs that they offer to the families, and the support systems so the families have the necessary supports in place not only for the person living with Alzheimer’s or Dementia, but also the family as well.”

The walk begins at 10:30 a.m on Sunday, and will honour Bill Blair and Wendy Nordick, members of the community who have been impacted by Dementia.
