RCMP investigate vandalism to Vernon war memorial

VERNON, B.C. — Police are trying to find out who was responsible for defacing a war memorial in Vernon.

RCMP were made aware of damage to the Dragoons War Memorial in Linear Park on 25th Avenue on April 17th.

“One of our front line officers attended to the memorial and found numerous letters and plaques missing from the memorial,” says RCMP Cst. Kelly Brett. “It is such a shame that a person or persons would deface a monument such as this and being the letters and plaques are very hard to remove, a lot of effort was needed to carry out this senseless act.”

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to contact RCMP at 250-545-7171 and reference file #2019-7883.
