KAMLOOPS — The 9th annual Chris Rose Walk for Autism kicks off this morning- raising awareness for Autism Spectrum Disorder, along with money for the city’s Chris Rose Therapy Centre for Autism.

The centre has been in Kamloops since 1989, and offers a variety of services for children and adults living with autism- including occupational, speech, language, and music therapy, along with life skills programs.

“We have between 25 and 30 children that attend our day program annually, we have 30-40 children that attend our after school program, and we have 10 adults with autism that use our centre as well.”

Executive Director Wanda Carisse says today’s event will have a variety of entertainment options.

“We’ll have many vendors and non-profits with display tables, so there will be lots of activity on the field. We’re right next to the centre, which is the NorKam football field,” She explains, “We have Chris the Clown with us, we’re really excited about that, and really appreciate that he’ll be donating his time.”

The event hopes to raise $25,000, and if you can’t make it out, donations can be made online on their website, accessed here.

Registration is set for 10 a.m, with the walk beginning around 10:45 a.m from the Chris Rose Therapy Centre for Autism.
