KAMLOOPS — It’s almost time — Boogie the Bridge will take over the Shore on Sunday, as thousands of walkers and runners will flood to McDonald Park for the annual event.

If you’re taking part in Boogie, you’ll want to head to the Boogie Expo at Sahali Mall Saturday to pick up your race package.

Along with giving out race packages, there are a number of vendors and Boogie the Bridge sponsors set up at the Expo, including Runners Sole (just in case you need that last minute shoe upgrade before the big run). Boogie Expo runs Saturday from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm, and is a great way to the buy-in from across Kamloops while making sure everyone is ready go for Sunday morning.

“Logistics is one thing. It’s always nice to be prepared ahead of time,” Boogie Expo coordinator Christina Stewart explained. “We want to come in and support our local community as well, so we’ve got our charities, our sponsors for the event, and some vendors that have been with us for quite a few years now… plus, Sunday morning is really busy, so coming to get your stuff today… means you’ll be ready to go Sunday morning.”

The money raised from Boogie the Bridge goes to a pair of important causes: The Kamloops Brain Injury Association and the Kamloops Early Education and Literacy Initiative.

KELLI Coordinator Maureen Doll says she and her family have taken part in Boogie the Bridge for almost as long as it’s been part of the community. Doll says it’s humbling to see how many people put their heart and souls into Boogie the Bridge, all to help out important causes in the community.

“To be behind the scenes for the past two years has been just a really amazing experience,” Doll said. “Just to see the dedication from so many volunteers who put their heart and soul and energy into putting on the signature event for Kamloops.”
