BARRIERE, B.C. β€” A man who was previously wanted by Barriere RCMP on a number of charges has been arrested.

In a news release, B.C. RCMP Sgt. Janelle Shoihet says 26-year-old Layton MacLaren was charged on April 18 with prowling at night on a private property, and theft from a motor vehicle under $5,000.

Shoihet says the charges stemmed from an incident that allegedly occurred at a Barriere home during the early morning hours of March 12.

MacLaren is in custody on other matters before the courts.

β€œThe Barriere RCMP understand that property crimes, especially at night are a concern for our community and we are committed to identifying and holding accountable, those responsible,” Barriere RCMP detachment commander Cpl. Robert Welsman says in the release.

In January, police stated that MacLaren was wanted and could be in the Barriere or Kamloops areas.

According to online court documents, MacLaren is due to appear in court today (April 25).
