KAMLOOPS — The first of many resurfacing projects coming to Southern Interior highways is now underway, and roadways in Kamloops are on the list.

The Highway 3 resurfacing project near Princeton has kicked off, and is one of several facelifts taking place this spring and summer.

In a news release, the provincial government says sections of Highway 1 and Highway 5 in Kamloops will be resurfaced this year.

Highway 5 will be resurfaced from the Yellowhead Interchange to CN Junction, along with the Highway 1 bypass from the Yellowhead Interchange to Columbia Street.

Miscellaneous areas along Highway 1 through the Valleyview corridor and other ramps will be resurfaced as well.

Highway 97C will be resurfaced from Lower Nicola to Logan Lake, and Tunkwa Lake Road between Savona and Tunkwa Lake.

These projects and more mean roughly 400 kilometres of highway will be resurfaced, totalling more than $70 million in improvements.

While the projects are underway, drivers should expect minor delays and at times single-lane alternating traffic.
