TORONTO — Chris Silverthorn, the Toronto Arrows’ director of rugby, has made five changes to his starting lineup for Sunday’s Major League Rugby match against the visiting Austin Elite Rugby.

Scrum half Jamie Mackenzie, wing Leandro Leivas and fullback Theo Sauder will make their first starts of the season while prop Cole Keith and No. 8 Marcello Wainwright return to the starting 15 after missing out on last week’s 35-31 loss to NOLA Gold in the Arrows home opener at York Alumni Stadium.

Toronto (4-5-0) went into weekend play in sixth place in the standings. Austin (0-10-0) sits in the nine-team league basement.

The Arrows’ matchday 23 includes 13 internationals — 12 Canadians and Uruguayan Gaston Mieres — with a combined cap total of 237 matches.

The starting 15 features 13 Canadians plus Uruguay’s Leivas and New Zealand’s Sam Malcolm.

“The tempo in training has been fantastic this week,” said Silverthorn. “We received incredible support at our home opener last Sunday, and it’s given our guys an extra boost throughout the week. Everyone at the club is really motivated to give our fans that first win on home soil and that’s our goal for this Sunday.”
