Tempers run high as esports gamers get into it after NBA 2K League contest
Two esports gamers have been suspended for their role in a post-game melee after an NBA 2K League game between Celtics Crossover Gaming and Hawks Talon GC.
The incident occurred following Hawks Talon GC’s 68-58 win over Celtics Crossover Gaming on Wednesday at the NBA 2K League Studio in Long Island City, N.Y.
As the teams passed each other, Albano (oFab) Thomallari of Celtics Crossover appeared to brush off a handshake attempt by Randolph (Rando) Moreno of Hawks Talon and then push him, triggering the altercation with officials trying to serve as peacemakers.
Thomallari was handed a one-game ban and fined US$500 while teammate Ahmed (Mel East) Kasana was fined $500. Hawks Talon GC forward Connor (Dat Boy Shotz) Rodrigues was suspended for one game.
