2019 Y Dream Home Lottery tickets sell out in record time
KAMLOOPS — Anyone hoping to get their hands on a Y Dream Home ticket is now out of luck with the lottery selling out in record time once again.
Tickets to win the 23rd Annual Y Dream Home in Tobiano sold out on Friday afternoon (Apr. 12), marking nine and a half days, beating the previous record of 13 days last year. The rapid sale comes despite the number of tickets going from 13,000 to 15,000 this year.
“Not expected,” said spokesman Bryce Herman. “We expected quick sales, but by no means did we expect it to sell at the rate that it has sold this year. We had a couple thousand more tickets to sell, we were very fortunate to get some great support again from the business community and keep our odds really great. The odds are 1 in 23 of winning something in this lottery. That’s well over a $1 million in prizing.”
The home in Tobiano is worth more than $840,000. While the dream home tickets are gone, Herman says there are still 50/50 tickets available. It’s the second year of the 50/50 draw and the pot sits at $70,000 as of Friday afternoon.
