Montreal Impact face D.C. United to cap long stretch on road to open season
MONTREAL — The Montreal Impact have been logging some serious air miles to start the Major League Soccer season and some of the players are beginning to feel the effects.
The Impact (2-2-1) cap their season-long, six-game road swing on Tuesday against D.C. United (3-1-1), just three days after 10-man Montreal held New York City FC to a scoreless draw at Yankee Stadium on Saturday.
The Impact jumped on a flight back home from New York before leaving for Washington on Monday.
“It’s not easy on the body. It’s not easy to be on the road all the time,” said midfielder Michael Azira before training on Sunday. “We haven’t played at home these past five games. It hasn’t been easy. You go to different environments, and it’s hard to get points on the road, but we try to do what we can to get the best out of these moments.:
