Cameranesi leads U.S. in 8-0 win over Swiss at women’s world hockey championship
ESPOO, Finland — Dani Cameranesi had two goals and an assist to pace the United States to an 8-0 shutout of Switzerland in the group stage at the women’s world hockey championship Sunday.
The U.S. topped Group A with nine points ahead of Canada, Russia and Finland, all tied with three. Switzerland was winless in three games.
Amanda Kessel and Megan Keller each had a pair of goals, while Alex Carpenter and Hilary Knight also scored for the defending champions.
American goaltender Maddie Rooney needed only six saves for the shutout, while Swiss counterpart Janine Alder was peppered with 57 shots.
