KAMLOOPS — City staff have a plan to pour more than $9 million into revamping the Canada Games Aquatic Centre, and will take that plan to Kamloops council next week.

Built in 1992, much of the facility’s envelope components — including mechanical, electrical, heating and ventilation systems — are reaching the end of their functional lives.

Staff plan to revamp and replace much of that infrastructure in 2020.

In budgeting for the project, staff plan to take about $2.9 million of the $9.1 million pricetag from the City’s Community Works Fund, with another $458,000 coming from a pending provincial grant.
