TARAJI P. HENSON SAID JUSSIE SMOLLETT WOULD RETURN TO EMPIRE AS NEW PROSECUTOR TAKES UP CASE: Jussie Smollett will be coming back to Fox‘s Empire. Taraji P. Henson told The View Thursday that following the Cook County State Attorney’s Office dropping of charges against him, he will come back to the show. She adds that she talks to Smollett “all the time” and that “he’s doing well.” Asked directly if his character Jamal would return next season, she said “I haven’t heard anything else.” Smollett was accused of staging a hate crime against himself to raise his profile. He has denied the allegations all along. Meanwhile, Chicago-based attorney Saani Mohammed tells People he filed a petition on Thursday to take up the case against Smollett and look into whether the DA’s office interfered.
CHRISSY TEIGEN AND JOHN LEGEND GET MATCHING TATTOOS: Chrissy Teigen and John Legend are putting their love out their for all to see. The pair recently got tattoos that pay tribute to their family. Teigen’s reads, “John-Luna-Miles,” and John’s reads, “Chrissy-Luna-Miles.” They share two children: Luna, 3, and Miles, 10 months. She shared the news on Instagram with her trademark snark, saying she could no longer speak with tattoo-free families.
BETSEY JOHNSON TO UNDERGO OPEN HEART SURGERY: The 76-year-old fashion icon Betsey Johnson underwent open heart surgery in L.A. on Thursday, following a five-day stay in the hospital. She told Women’s Wear Daily that she decided to go public after Mick Jagger also opened up about his heart issues this week. Johnson has long advocated for heart health, modeling for the American Heart Association‘s Go Red for Women Red Dress Collection runway show. Johnson plans to devote a chapter to heart health in a book she’s working on.
KRISTEN BELL DROPS HINTS ABOUT VERONICA MARS REBOOT: Hold onto your hats, Veronica Mars fans. E! caught up with the show’s star Kristen Bell and she shared that the reboot may cause mixed emotions among the original show’s fans. “This will be a controversial season. Let me just say that,” Bell said. “I am excited for people to watch and I am also probably going to stay off the internet once it airs. There’s some stuff that happens that people will have strong feelings about.” Veronica Mars is set to drop on Hulu this summer.
