FRANCIS FORD COPPOLA PREPARES TO MAKE MEGALOPOLIS: Francis Ford Coppola is preparing to embark on a dream project, Deadline reports. The legendary director plans to direct Megalopolis, a film as sprawling as Apocalypse Now. He has been planning the film for several years and already has a script. He has started speaking with potential stars. The film, about an architect’s utopian vision, will reportedly be set in New York before the 9/11 terror attacks.
HENRY WINKLER, DAN BUTLER JOIN ALEC BALDWIN, ANNE HECHE IN TWENTIETH CENTURY: Henry Winkler, Dan Butler and Julie Halston have signed on to join Alec Baldwin and Anne Heche in a one-night only Roundabout Theatre Company benefit reading of Twentieth Century. The reading reunites most of the stars of the lauded 2004 staging of the play. The one-night reading will take place April 29.

NETFLIX REVEALS NEW GROWTH STRATEGIES: Netflix has announced two new projects and a potential vast expansion of employees at its hub in Madrid, Spain next year. CEO Reed Hastings said that the mega-streamer’s first European production hum is going to be a part of the Spanish creative ecosystem forever. We’re not just experimenting and trying something. We’re investing for the long term.” Employment on productions will grow from 13,000 in Spain in 2018 to up to 25,000 this year, Netflix says.
