KAMLOOPS — A project to significantly improve pedestrian and motorist safety along Todd Road is slated to begin this spring.

Tonight (March 28), the city is hosting a public information session for Barnhartvale residents.

Residents along Todd Road have long been concerned over the absence of a proper sidewalk.

The road is narrow and winding and the current path pedestrians use is equally as hazardous.

The city is planning to completely reconstruct the road between Ronde Lane and Klahanie Drive.

“The big driver of that particular project was a new sidewalk for that corridor,” said the City’s Streets and Environmental Services Manager, Glen Farrow. “But, at the same time we’re going to be resurfacing and digging up some of the underground services, a new water line, new water services and repairs to portions of the sewer line.”

The sidewalk will be constructed on the uphill side of the road with concrete curbing to be installed on the downhill side.

During tonight’s drop-in information session residents will learn how they will be impacted during construction.

“We’ll do whatever we can to keep the road open, so single lane alternating quite a bit,” Farrow said. “The project will stretch for throughout the summer, it’ll be pretty extensive all the way through the year.”

The meeting will be held at RL Clemitson School beginning at 6:00 p.m.
