SMITHERS, B.C. — A Northern BC resident will pay thousands and be banned from hunting for four years after illegally killing a moose.

In a Facebook post, the BC Conservation Officer Service (BCCOS) says the Smithers resident pleaded guilty in provincial court today (March 26) to killing a bull moose while suspended from hunting, and to unlawfully possessing dead wildlife.

They received a $3,000 fine and a four-year hunting prohibition.

The antlers from the animal and a crossbow bolt were forfeited, and last fall the meat was delivered to those in need of moose meat.
