KAMLOOPS — Police are investigating after an alleged armed robbery in downtown Kamloops this afternoon.

A man stopped an on-duty Kamloops RCMP officer near the Acadian Inn on Columbia Street, and said two male acquaintances — one of whom allegedly brandished a knife — had entered his room and demanded the victim turn over his wallet.

Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Jodi Shelkie says there was a physical altercation between the victim and the suspects, before the two suspects fled the scene.

Officers located one suspect a short distance away and took him into custody.

Shelkie says the victim received minor injuries.

The second suspect is outstanding, but the 33-year-old man who was arrested is from Kamloops and was previously known to police.

If you have any information on the identity of the second suspect, call Kamloops RCMP at (250) 828-3000 or Crime Stoppers at 1 (800) 222-8477.
