Flooding advisories for Southern Interior, Cariboo highways

SOUTHERN INTERIOR, B.C. — Motorists travelling in the Interior of B.C. are advised to take caution due to flooding and mudslide risks across the region.

Several advisories from south of Kamloops to east of 70 Mile House are currently in place, according to Drive BC.

North Bonaparte Road is closed in both directions between Kormorie Cutoff Forest Road and Boule Young Road, east of 70 Mile House due to flooding.

Highway 99 has a travel advisory in place between Hat Creek Road and Jackson Road due to a mudslide. Drivers are asked not to stop during rainfall, and to plan for a highway closure in the event of heavy rain.

A travel advisory is in place for two areas of Highway 1 — the first is between Back Valley Road and Juniper Beach Provincial Park Access Road due to a mudslide.

The other advisory is between Cornall Road and Old Cariboo Road — east of Ashcroft to Cache Creek. That’s also due to a mudslide, and drivers are asked to not stop during rainfall.

Finally, Highway 5A is experience flooding at Old Kamloops Road south of Kamloops. The road is flooded at the north end of Stump Lake.
