NETFLIX TESTING MOBILE-ONLY APP: Is the future of entertainment in the palm of your hands? Netflix is betting on that with a new mobile-only subscription test in India. Prices are bargain-basement (about $3.63 a month), but they’re still more expensive than Amazon ($1.20 a month). A Netflix spokesperson told The Hollywood Reporter in a statement that “we will be testing different options in select countries, where members can, for example, watch Netflix on their mobile device for a lower price and subscribe in shorter increments of time.” Would you be interested in a cheap mobile-only plan?

SUTTON FOSTER TO STAR IN THE MUSIC MAN WITH HUGH JACKMAN: The two-time Tony Award winner and star of TV Land‘s Younger, Sutton Foster, will be co-starring on Broadway‘s The Music Man with Hugh Jackman. Preview performances begin Sept. 9, 2020, at a Shubert theater to be announced, ahead of an Oct. 22 official opening.

VANESSA KIRBY JOINS STARDREAM: The Crown star Vanessa Kirby is headed into outer space in StarDream, an upcoming sci-fi film from The Wife‘s director Bjorn Runge. She will take on the lead role in a story that charts the course of a hastily constructed spaceship designed to ship cryogenically frozen humans from a dying Earth.

BLACKOUT AVERTED: Viacom‘s cable networks will remain on AT&T, as the two companies finally manage to hammer out a new carriage deal. This affects Viacom channels such as MTV, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon and the Paramount Network, which will now remain on AT&T‘s DirecTV, Watch TV and U-Verse services. “We are pleased to announce a renewed Viacom-AT&T contract that includes continued carriage of Viacom services across multiple AT&T platforms and products. The deal also brings AT&T customers more choice and improved value for Viacom content. We expect to announce additional details in the near future,” the two firms said in a statement.
