KAMLOOPS —The Kamloops Chamber of Commerce has announced the reversal of its decision to hire John Perks as Executive Director.

The decision follows the recent controversy stirred up throughout social media around some Facebook posts made by Perks, however President Joshua Knaak says in accordance with privacy laws, the Chamber does not have any further comment on the matter.

“As it is a personnel issue, I think everyone can understand and respect confidentiality, and that’s about all we’re going to have to say about that.”  Knaak told CFJC Today.

Now, Knaak says the board will continue to review the pool of candidates who have already been interviewed, and for now they will not reopen applications.

“We are continuing our search for our executive director, and we are confident that we’ll find someone that is a great fit for the Chamber and the community, and we’re back at it.” Knaak says.
