Former Kamloops judge named Walk for Alzheimer’s honoree

KAMLOOPS — The Walk for Alzheimer’s is still over a month away, but the Alzheimer’s Society is spreading the word now, with help from this year’s walk honoree. 

Bill Blair is a former judge, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease two years ago after experiencing dizziness, trouble finishing sentences and mood swings. 

Now, he and his wife Wendy Nordick are working to promote the Walk for Alzheimer’s by telling their stories. 

“For those who don’t have Alzheimer’s you likely have a family member that has it now, or will have it,” Blair said. “And they need your support, and they need to support me. I have a large family, and they’re supporting me.”

The Walk for Alzheimer’s will take place on May 5. The event raises awareness and money for the Alzheimer’s Society of B.C. 

“It’s our biggest fundraiser for the year, we are a non-profit,” said Corrina Lovell with the Alzheimer’s Society of B.C. “So, we use that money to provide support, education and programming for families to give them some support along the journey of Alzheimer’s and other dementias.”
