Canada’s Ana Padurariu captures Stuttgart World Cup gymnastics silver medal
STUTTGART, Germany — Canadian Ana Padurariu captured the all-around silver medal at the Stuttgart World Cup gymnastics event Sunday.
Padurariu, of Whitby, Ont., amassed 55.132 points to finish behind American Simone Biles (58.800). German Elizabeth Seitz (54.399) was third.
Padurariu, 16, started the competition with a score of 13.533 on the fault that left her tied for last heading into the uneven bars. She moved up to fourth overall posting a score of 14.066 in that discipline before jumping into the medal race on the beam.
There, Padurariu posted a top score of 14.333 in an event she won a silver medal in at last year’s world championship. Padurariu cemented her second-place finish with a 13.200 score on floor.
