MACKLEMORE TO BE HONORED AT 2019 MUSICARES CONCERT FOR RECOVERY: Macklemore, who’s struggled with addiction, will be honored at this year’s 2019 MusiCares Concert for Recovery, an event held each year by MusiCares, the charitable arm of the Recording Academy. Macklemore will receive the Stevie Ray Vaughan Award in recognition of his “significant dedication to and support of MusiCares and his commitment to helping others in the addiction recovery process.” The award is named after the late, legendary guitarist Stevie Ray Vaughan, who achieved sobriety but died in a helicopter crash in 1990. The event, scheduled for May 16th in Los Angeles, will be hosted by Joel McHale, and will also feature a tribute to the late Mac Miller, as well as performances by additional, soon-to-be announced artists.
BTS, SARA BAREILLES BOOK ‘SNL’: BTS is heading to Saturday Night Live. The massively successful K-Pop group will be the musical guest for the show’s April 13th episode, which will be hosted by Emma Stone. The band’s appearance will come one day after the release of their newest album, Map of the Soul: Persona. The late night program also announced that Sandra Oh will host on March 30th with musical guest Tame Impala. Kit Harrington will host the show for the first time on April 6th and will be accompanied by musical guest Sara Bareilles.
HARRY STYLES TO INDUCT STEVIE NICKS INTO THE ROCK AND ROLL HALL OF FAME: Harry Styles has been selected to do the speech presenting Stevie Nicks at her induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, later this month. Nicks was first inducted in 1998 as a part of Fleetwood Mac. This time, she’s being recognized for her solo career – the first woman to be inducted twice. Harry’s a massive fan of Stevie and of Fleetwood Mac. He’s called Stevie “The Queen of Everything,” and famously showed up to a Fleetwood Mac gig with a carrot cake just for her. The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony, which will also see Janelle Monae presenting Janet Jackson, and Brian May of Queen presenting Def Leppard, takes place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, on March 29th. An edited version of the broadcast will air on HBO April 27th.
SIA’S SUPERGROUP LSD RELEASING NEW SONG AHEAD; ALBUM DUE THIS APRIL: Before they release their first album together this spring, LSD – the supergroup featuring Sia, Diplo and British singer Labrinth – will be dropping a brand new song this week. The song, “No New Friends,” arrives this morning. Sia gave a sneak peek of the tune on her social media. “I got all I need in a world of doubt/We got our champagne dreams in an endless drought,” she sings. “We got all we need/No new friends now.” LSD previously announced that their album will be released on April 12th. The trio joined forces last year, releasing the songs “Genius” and “Thunderclouds,” among others.
