Elementary school report card out from Fraser Institute
VANCOUVER — The Fraser Institute says it doesn’t matter where schools are located, what type of school it is, and the background of its students, elementary schools can make improvements and provide quality education.
In its annual report card on B.C.’s elementary schools, Armstrong Elementary is the province’s fastest-improving school, climbing from a score of 1.9 (out of 10) in 2014 to 6.1 in 2018. And Armstrong’s Grade 4 students showed significant improvement in reading, writing and math.
Over the same time period, Maria Montessori in Victoria improved from 7.3 to 9.5—despite having a 20.1 per cent special needs population.
Top ranked school in Kamloops/Thompson School District 73, according to the report, is St. Ann’s Academy, ranked number 106, followed by Pacific Way Elementary, at 143.
