FILM ADAPTATION OF THE HUMANS SET: Scott Rudin and Eli Bush are teaming up on a film version of the four-time Tony winning play The Humans by Stephen Karam, Deadline reports. Beanie Feldstein, Jayne Houbyshell (reprising her Tony-winning role), Richard Gilkins, Amy Schumer and Steven Yeun will star. Karam will (re)write and direct.
CANNES SERIES ANNOUNCES LINEUP: Cannes Series, set for April 5-10, has announced its 10 series in competition for the TV festival. They include Netflix’s German show How To Sell Drugs Online and Amazon‘s UK series The Feed with Michelle Fairley and David Thewlis. The competition jury will be run by Dark show-runner Baran bo Odar with members comprising actor, director and author Stephen Fry (Gosford Park), actors Miriam Leone (Non Uccidere) and Emma Mackey (Sex Education) and actor and director Katheryn Winnick (Vikings), per Deadline. Game Of Thrones star Dianna Rigg and Peaky Blinders and Taboo writer Steven Knight will give masterclasses.
CAPTAIN MARVEL SURGES PAST $500M: Brie Larson‘s Captain Marvel, the first female-led superhero picture from Marvel and Disney, has crossed the $500 million mark at the global box office, less than a week after it bowed.
HUGH JACKMAN HEADED TO BROADWAY: Hugh Jackman will return to Broadway in a 2020 revival of Meredith Willson‘s 1957 classic musical The Music Man, producer Scott Rudin confirmed Tuesday. Jerry Zaks is slated to direct, with choreography from Warren Caryle. The revival will bow September 9, 2020, at a Shubert theatre that will be announced at a later date.
