LORIA BELL LIGHTS UP INDIE B.O.: Julianne Moore‘s Gloria Bell launched with $154,775 across five screens in NYC and L.A., the third-highest per-screen figure of the box office this year, behind Brie Larson‘s Captain Marvel and Fighting With My Family. Next weekend, Gloria Bell will expand and will go nationwide March 22nd. Michael Cera, Brad Garrett, Holland Taylor and Caren Pistorius also star.

DC UNVEILS NEW SUPER HERO GIRLS SERIES: Following the launch of DC Super Hero Girls on Cartoon Network, a new DC Super Hero Girls graphic novel has been announced. “I’m very excited to be working on DC Super Hero Girls,” new series writer, Amy Wolfram said in a statement from the publisher. “Not only do we get to see these iconic superheroes in action as they protect Metropolis, we also get to peek behind the masks and capes to see their secret identities as they deal with an even greater challenge – being a teenager in high school!”

TAX CREDITS WILL ALLOW PENNY DREADFUL TO FILM IN L.A.: Showtime‘s upcoming L.A. set version of Penny Dreadful is going to actually film in L.A. thanks to California’s tax credit program. Daniel Zovatto, Natalie Dormer and Nathan Lane star in the show, which has conditionally received $24.7 million, a record.

JAMES MAY TO FRONT JAPANESE TRAVELOGUE FOR AMAZON: The Grand Tour star James May is heading to Japan to star in travelogue Our Man In… Japan with James May for Amazon. The SVOD has ordered the six-part series from Plum Pictures. May will explore the principles of Wabi, Sabi and Yugen as well as Godzilla, Hello Kitty, Cosplay and will travel the entire country in his quest for a deeper understanding of the country.
