Fire damages popular Buckerfield’s store in Salmon Arm

SALMON ARM — Fire crews in Salmon Arm were busy last night( Sunday March 10).

They were called to the Buckerfield’s operation to deal with a fire reported about 6:15 PM.

Fire crews say grey smoke was coming out of the roof of the building when they arrived.

Several witnesses said the fire started somewhere at the rear of the building. No cause reported at this point.

Apparently the store was closed, but Fire Chief Brad Shirley is quoted as saying there were still some staff members inside at the time.
