Halsey and Awkwafina star in ModCloth’s brand new campaign “Against the Current.”In addition, Orange is the New Black’s Dascha Polanco and You’s Hari Nef also star in the brand new campaign. A video associated with the campaign describes the “four heroines” who “battle the elements – fire, air, earth and water – and emerge even stronger because of their fearless ability to express who they truly are.” In the video clip, Halsey sports a black-and-white flower print ModCloth dress as she runs for shelter in a rainstorm and finds herself swimming in a deep pool. It’s a metaphor for the singer nearly being swallowed up by people’s judgments and opinions, but in the end, she emerges as a stronger person. “If I can teach anyone anything, it would be to be unapologetically yourself, no matter what,” she tells ModCloth. “Every person that comes into your path on the way who tries to discourage you from being that way will matter very, very, very little in the future.” She adds, “I think that every person who kind of made fun of me or questioned me, or thought I was weird or annoying or curious, I don’t remember very many of them now. And it feels good to be myself. The video ends with the words: “Dress against the current. Live against the current.”
In addition to her deal with ModCloth, Halsey is branching out into the coffee business. She’s investing in High Brew Coffee, an Austin-based company that makes canned cold brew. She’ll also be involved in the brand’s innovation process, coming up with new ideas and concepts.
