Luke Perry Dies

Luke Perry has died at age 52. TMZ was first to report the news. The TV star, who rose to global fame playing Dylan McKay on Beverly Hills, 90210, died on Monday at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Burbank, California, after suffering a major stroke last Wednesday. His rep told TMZ that he was surrounded by loved ones, including his children Jack and Sophie, fiance Wendy Madison Bauer, ex-wife Minnie Sharp, mother Ann Bennett, step-father Steve Bennett, brother Tom Perry, sister Amy Coder and others.

Perry was in a medically induced coma on the hopes that he could recover from the trauma of the stroke, but the damage was reportedly too extensive. He reportedly never regained consciousness.

Most recently, Perry played Archie’s dad on CW‘s Riverdale; he also had a role in the forthcoming Charles Manson biopic Once Upon a Time in Hollywood from Quentin Tarantino.

Riverdale has suspended production to mourn his passing.

Celebrities and fans took to Twitter to share their heartbreak in the wake of the shocking news.

Ian Ziering was the first 90210 star to pay tribute, tweeting, “Dearest Luke, I will forever bask in the loving memories we’ve shared over the last thirty years. May your journey forward be enriched by the magnificent souls who have passed before you, just like you have done here, for those you leave behind.”

Jennie Garth released a statement to People: “My heart is broken. He meant so much to so many. Such a very special person. I share my deep sadness with his family and all who loved him. Such a terrible loss.”

Jon Cryer wrote on Twitter, “LukePerry was a character actor in the body of a heartthrob. Much respect.”

Molly Ringwald tweeted that her heart was “broken.”
