Taylor Swift Healing & New Selena

Taylor Swift appears on the cover of Elle UK’s new “music issue,” and also penned an essay for the mag explaining how certain songs have defined moments in her life.

In particular she cites songs from the Grey’s Anatomy soundtrack – “How to Save a Life” by The Fray, “Breathe (2AM)” by Anna Nalick, and “The Story” by Brandi Carlile – as transporting her “to being 17 and on tour for months on end.”

She also says three other songs – “You Learn” by Alanis Morissette, “Put Your Records On” by Corinne Bailey Rae and “Why” by Annie Lennox – “have actually healed my heart after bad breakups or let downs.”

Accompanied with a rare high-fashion shoot, Taylor also explains why her songs are always so personal and filled with what she calls “evocative details.”

“I love writing songs because I love preserving memories, like putting a picture frame around a feeling you once had,” Taylor says. “I like to use nostalgia as inspiration when I’m writing songs for the same reason I like to take photographs. I like to be able to remember the extremely good and extremely bad times.”

“I thrive on the challenge of sprinkling personal mementos and shreds of reality into a genre of music that is universally known for being, well, universal,” she explains.

“We actually do NOT want our pop music to be generic,” she argues. “I think a lot of music lovers want some biographical glimpse into the world of our narrator, a hole in the emotional walls people put up around themselves to survive.”

The recent surge of social media posts, plus the essay, have sent fans into a tailspin, trying to figure out what it all means – with theories abound.

Swift jokingly responded to the speculation Wednesday: “She just read all the theories ,” she captioned a photo of one of her cats with a shocked expression.

Selena Gomez is featured with Latin star J Balvin on the new track “I Can’t Get Enough.” The bilingual song, featuring a smooth dance beast, is from super-producers Benny Blanco and Tainy.

“I’m extremely excited about this track, and helping put this collab together, especially since it was created so smoothly and organically,” Tainy says in a statement. “It’s a fun piece that everyone involved loved off top, and it’s going to make people feel good.”

“I Can’t Get Enough” marks Blanco’s first new song since the release of his debut album, Friends Keep Secrets, which arrived last year. The record featured collaborations with Halsey, Khalid, Calvin Harris, Swae Lee, Ty Dolla $ign and more.

Blanco’s previous single, “Eastside,” featuring Halsey and Khalid, hit No. 1 on Billboard’s radio airplay-based Pop Songs chart this week. It took a record 31 weeks to hit the top spot.

Meanwhile, “I Can’t Get Enough” marks Gomez’s second bit of new music this year after she joined Julia Michaels on her new song, “Anxiety.” The singer has released a string of loose singles over the past few years, though she hasn’t released a proper album since 2015’s Revival. But she has been spotted leaving a recording studio in Los Angeles this week.
