OPRAH WINFREY, BRIE LARSON, STACEY ABRAMS TO LEAD WOMEN IN THE WORLD SUMMIT: The Women in the World Summit will return in April, with Oprah Winfrey, Stacey Abrams, Brie Larson, Ashley Judd, Jill and Faith Soloway, Cindy McCain, Adwoa Aboah and Wanda Sykes, among others, set to appear. Winfrey will deliver the summit’s keynote address and attempt to answer, “Can women save the world?”. The event takes place from April 10-12 at New York’s Lincoln Center. “This year’s Summit is such a milestone event with our 10th anniversary; it is clearer than ever that the mission has met its moment,” Women in the World and Tina Brown Live Media founder and CEO Tina Brown said in a statement. “The seeds we’ve planted as far back as 2010 in a small midtown theater have exploded into a global community of women of power and purpose.”
IDRIS ELBA’S NETFLIX TURN UP CHARLIE DROPS CHARLIE: Idris Elba is starring in Turn Up Charlie, a half-hour scripted comedy on Netflix that features him bringing his real-life DJ skills to the screen. (Elba recently DJ’d Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s May 19thwedding.) The first trailer dropped Thursday, and all eight episodes will be released on March 15th.
DARK PHOENIX TRAILER DROPS: 20th Century Fox has released a new clip for the latest installment of the X-Men franchise. Dark Phoenix, starring James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, Sophie Turner and many others, will bow on June 7th, 2019. In the film, directed by Simon Kinberg, the X-Men face-off against one of their own, Jean Grey.
DAMIAN LEWIS MAKING SPY WARS: Billions and Homeland star Damian Lewis is making a docu-drama series that focuses on international spy operations. A+E is set to produce Damian Lewis: Spy Wars, with Lewis guiding viewers through famous cases of espionage, reconstructed in dramatic re-enactments.
