R.Kelly Released From Jail
R. Kelly was released from a Chicago jail on Monday (February 25th) after spending the weekend behind bars on sexual abuse charges. According to Rap-Up, Kelly was seen leaving Cook County Jail, wearing the same blue bubble jacket he wore when he surrendered on Friday (February 22nd).
The judge set the singer’s bond at $1 million, and he was required to pay 10 percent – $100,000, to be released. According to TMZ, Kelly paid the bond with a bank cashier’s check.
Meanwhile, during Kelly’s hearing on Monday, his lawyer pled not guilty on the singer’s behalf to all 10 counts of aggravated criminal sex abuse. As previously reported, prosecutors allege that Kelly sexually abused four women, including three minors, between 1998 and 2010. Nine of the 10 counts involve alleged victims ranging from ages 13 to 16.
Kelly denied the charges and is maintaining his innocence. His attorney said, “It’s our position at this point that Mr. Kelly has done absolutely nothing wrong. No one has shown us any evidence that he’s done anything wrong.”
