Antons named technical delegate to International Paralympic Committee

KAMLOOPS — He came to Kamloops from his native Germany as a 16-year-old when his older brother was playing for the Kamloops Blazers.

Jan Antons never left, became a Canadian citizen in 2004, and for the better part of the last two decades has immersed himself as a volunteer in the community in dozens of organizations and events.

His latest recognition for his volunteer work is international.

Antons has been named a technical delegate to the International Paralympic Committee and World Para Hockey.

It’s a position to which only a few ever get selected.

As a technical delegate Antons will be involved in events like the Paralympics, World Championships and international tournaments representing the IPC and World Para Hockey.

The 38-year-old assistant manager of office systems at the B.C. Lottery Corporation will travel to Slovakia in March for his IPC Technical Delegate certification.
