Adam Lambert has dropped his latest single “Feel Something” – in which he opens up about his struggle with mental health.

“This was written about me climbing out of the low period, defying my disillusionment, owning my needs, and opening my heart,” Adam said in a statement. “[The song] was in this realization that I took my first step toward self-care and nursing my spirit back to health. This song is the emotional starting point of my new album.”

Ahead of the release of “Feel Something,” Adam penned a personal and revealing message to fans. He starts off the message by thanking fans for their “patience and continued faith” in him, adding that he’s currently “coming out of a dark period of second-guessing my own artistry and having my mental health suffer because of it.”

“I started asking myself, ‘is all this hustle really worth it?’” he continues. “I put all my focus on my work and started to feel detached in my personal life. My self-worth was suffering. I was lonely and becoming depressed.”

He credits touring with Queen with recharging his energy and says he was able to pull himself out of the darkness with “a bit of professional help and the support of colleagues, friends and family.”

Adam concludes, “Since writing this song, I’ve found the joy I was missing and I’m back in my power. I can’t wait for you to hear more!”

On Sunday, Adam will open the Oscars ceremony with Queen. Bohemian Rhapsody, the biopic about the late Queen frontman Freddie Mercury, is nominated for five awards. Adam also has an uncredited cameo in the movie as a trucker who has a tryst with Mercury at a roadside rest stop.

Queen and Adam Lambert wrapped a successful Las Vegas residency last year and will tour together this summer.
