Feeling on top of your game? A new product from a Canadian company can help aspiring fighters train like a super-hero.

Canadian-based Hayabusa Fightwear is partnering with Marvel Entertainment on a limited-edition series of boxing gloves inspired by the “Black Panther,” “Captain America,” “Captain Marvel,” “Iron Man” and “The Punisher” movies.

The Marvel Hero Elite collection, now available for pre-order, is slated for release in early March for $299.99 a pair.

“It’s our first go with character-based gloves,” said Eddie Daniels, a spokesman for Hayabusa, which is based out of Kingston, Ont. “Everything that we’ve done in the past has been strictly on fighting, whether it’s training or live fights.”

Formed in 2006, Hayabusa’s combat fitness and sports line ranges from boxing gloves to shorts and compression apparel. Luke Harris, a former MMA fighter and Canadian judo team member from St. Albert, Alta., was one of the company co-founders.

The Marvel-themed gloves are designed for training purposes with extra wrist support and cushioning to protect the hands during repeated punching.

“These gloves can be used for pad work, for sparring with other individuals, for heavy bag workouts,” said Daniels.

“We’ve done a lot of studies on hand support and wrist injuries and our gloves are built based on those studies,” he added.

Hayabusa has a separate line of boxing gloves for actual fights.

Daniels believes the Marvel gloves will be of interest to both athletes and collectors.

Hayabusa literally is Japanese for peregrine falcon, a predator that hunts from above and can drop into a steep dive that tops 320 km/h.

Hayabusa’s stable of fighters includes former UFC welterweight and middleweight champion Georges St-Pierre.
