Alberta man killed in avalanche near Blue River
BLUE RIVER, B.C. — An avalanche has claimed a life near Blue River.
North District RCMP media relations officer Cpl. Madonna Saunderson confirms one person was killed Saturday afternoon at about 3:00 p.m. when a slide came down on a group out snowmobiling.
The location of the slide was about 70 kilometres south of Valemount, near the Bone Creek Forest Service Road.
“At this time, they’re still confirming the identity of the individual who had succumbed to the snowmobile party avalanche that had happened in that area,” said Saunderson. “Information is very limited at this time. I know search and rescue were called to assist.”
