WAS THE ROCK THE ACADEMY’S FIRST CHOICE FOR HOST? Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson claims he was the Academy‘s top choice for host of the2019 Oscars, but he was unable to make it work with his filming schedule. Responding to a fan tweet that said he should host, the 46-year-old responded: “Ah mahalo dude, I was their first choice to host this year, and my goal was to make it the most fun and entertaining Oscars ever. We all tried hard, but couldn’t make it work since I’m shooting ‘Jumanji.’” Ultimately, the Academy asked Kevin Hart to host. He stepped down after old homophobic tweets of his were resurfaced.
ELLEN DEGENERES GIFTS FAMILY WITH $1M: On The Ellen DeGeneres Show this week, DeGeneres presented them a lucky family with $1 million. DeGeneres gave the Daniels family the funds because, as she said, “No matter what you’re struggling with, no matter how you’re living paycheck to paycheck, you still want to pay it forward, you still help others.”
MICHELLE RODRIGUEZ DEFENDS LIAM NEESON: Michelle Rodriguez is defending Widows costar Liam Neeson after he admitted to once wanting to murder a random black man after a loved one was raped. Rodriguez claims Neeson is “not a racist.” She tells Vanity Fair: “Dude, have you watched ‘Widows?’ His tongue was so far down Viola Davis’ throat. You can’t call him a racist ever. Racists don’t make out with the race that they hate, especially in the way he does with his tongue – so deep down her throat.”
GIGI HADID TALKS HEALTH ISSUES: Gigi Hadid, 23, covers March’s Elle, and inside, she opens up about the Lyme Disease her mother Yolanda, her sister Bella and her brother Anwar have been diagnosed with, affect their day to day lives. “Growing up, having three of my family members sick made me very independent,” she tells the magazine. “My mom couldn’t drive or get out of bed some days, so I took my brother to school with me, or I made lunch.” Gigi says she also feels guilty, being the only unscathed family member. “It’s hard when your whole family is in pain and you don’t know what to do.”
SARAH SILVERMAN SHARES NO GOOD, VERY BAD TRIP TO DOCTOR: The 48-year-old Sarah Silverman is opening up about a recent trip to the doctor’s office. “I have to get an ultrasound after my mammograms because I have dense breasts (insert joke here) and this radiologist — the same man I had last year — I do not like him and here is why,” she began. “He opened my gown and put gel on my breasts and smeared it around with his bare hands. Then he started talking to me about my chest X-ray (I also got a chest X-Ray) and was pontificating with my boobs just out and covered in gel and cold and finally I said, ‘Hey, can we either talk about this when I’m dressed or WHILE you’re doing the ultrasound? I’m not comfortable with my breasts out just shooting the s**t with you.” She continued: “So, he smears the gel on with his hands and NO GLOVES on and when he glides the ultrasound wand thing over my breasts he drags his fingers on them and it f**king bothers me. Again, AS I TOLD HIM LAST YEAR, I said, ‘Hey! Do you need to be touching me with your fingers?’ He said ‘No.’ And he pulled them off of me. Then he added, ‘I do that for balance.’ I said, ‘Well I believe in you and I think you can do [this] without your fingers on me.” She ended the post by saying all women should speak up if they feel uncomfortable.
ELSA PATAKY OPENS UP ABOUT FAMILY LIFE WITH CHRIS HEMSWORTH: The Tidelands actress Elsa Pataky spoke to Hola! USA for their March issue about her 2010 marriage to Thor star Chris Hemsworth, and the decisions they both made to balance work and family. “I wanted to focus on my children because I had already worked a lot,” Pataky says, reflecting on starting a family with Hemsworth. “My husband was starting his career; it was his moment, and I wanted him to take advantage to work more. We decided if we had children, I wanted to stay with them and enjoy them to the fullest – but it was my decision. It can be managed perfectly, as we see women do nowadays.”
