BRUNO MARS ANNOUNCES 11 NEW CONCERTS IN LAS VEGAS: As part of his ongoing mini-residency at the Park Theater at Park MGM in Sin City, Bruno Mars has announced 11 new shows, starting April 29th and running through May 4th, and then picking up again September 3rd and running through September 14th. Tickets for the shows cost just under $88 and go on sale February 8th. Live Nation customers and M life Rewards members can grab the tickets starting Wednesday.
MAROON 5 SEES MAJOR SALES BOOST THANKS TO SUPER BOWL HALFTIME SHOW: The consensus may be that Maroon 5 delivered a lackluster Super Bowl halftime show, but the gig still earned the band a major sales boost. According to Billboard, initial reports from Nielsen Music say Maroon 5’s catalog scored a 488% sales gain on the day of the big game. It climbed from 4,000 in download sales on Saturday to 24,000 on Sunday. The six songs the band performed during the halftime show had an even bigger sales boost: 587%. Combined sales of “Harder to Breathe,” “This Love,” “Girls Like You,” “She Will Be Loved,” “Sugar” and “Moves Like Jagger” rose from nearly 3,000 sold on Saturday to 18,000 sold on Sunday. Maroon 5’s special guests for the halftime show, Travis Scott and Big Boi, also saw a bump in sales. Travis’ “Sicko Mode” jumped by 80%, while OutKast’s “The Way You Move” – performed by the duo’s Big Boi – had a massive 3,408% gain.
THE CHAINSMOKERS AND 5 SECONDS OF SUMMER WORKING ON A COLLAB? The Chainsmokers and 5 Seconds of Summer teased a new joint project for Amazon Music which may be titled “Who Do You Love?” In a short video posted to 5SOS’ social media, the guys climb a rocky landscape against a purple sky. They hold up an Alexa-enabled speaker and tell it to “follow The Chainsmokers on Amazon Music.” Meanwhile, The Chainsmokers’ Drew Taggartand Alex Pall shared a video of their own featuring the two of them sitting in a studio trying to figure out their next hit. “I just feel like I play the same chords over and over again,” Drew says, referencing a popular criticism of the duo. He asks Alex, “What are you listening to right now? Who do you love?” Alex says he’s into 5 Seconds of Summer and Drew tells Alexa to follow them on Amazon Music.
This past weekend millions of Fortnite players logged in to the game to watch the EDM star Marshmello perform a 10-minute concert.Players gathered at the virtual Pleasant Park in Fortnite to watch the performance and could dance along to the music with other players in the game. More than 10 million players logged in to the game on Saturday to watch the virtual concert.On the day of the concert, Fortnite released a special mode that prevented players from shooting each other while they were in the concert area.After the show, several players told Marshmello that his performance was their first concert. Dozens of players and parents shared videos of themselves dancing and having fun during the short set and Marshmello returned for an encore run of the performance later in the day. An extended version of the mix was uploaded to Apple Music, with a 29-minute running time.Marshmello also shared his thoughts on the event, writing: “What makes me happiest about today is that so many people got to experience their first concert ever. All the videos I keep seeing of people laughing and smiling throughout the set are amazing. Man I’m still so pumped. If you thought that concert was lit, try coming to a real show. The Mellogang goes hardddddd!”
